Drunken Driver Almost Crashes Into East Hampton Police Officer: PD

He's facing a felony DWI charge and was released on his own recognizance, police say.

AMAGANSETT, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Amagansett recently.

According to East Hampton town police, Oscar Obdulio Jacintomateo, 22, was arrested at 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 24 on Town Lane and charged with aggravated DWI: Per se- .18 of 1 percent or more blood alcohol content with a previous conviction within 10 years, a felony.

He was driving a white 2006 Ford and was seen making a wide right turn off of Stony Hill Road onto Town Lane, nearly causing a front-end collision with the officer, then continuing to head west and crossing over the double yellow line, police said.

Jacintomateo had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, and bloodshot, glassy eyes, and he was unsteady on his feet, police said. He also performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He had a prior DWI conviction in February, 2023; he was released on his own recognizance, police said.
