Duck Hunter Found Dead Near Car Stuck In Snowdrift

The man collapsed while trying to dig his car out of the snow at a Suffolk County beach Monday, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A duck hunter was found dead outside his car, which had become stuck in a snowdrift in East Hampton on Monday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Vincent D'Angelo, 73, of East Hampton, was found at 4:22 p.m. on the beach access road at Sammys Beach. D'Angelo was found by two men walking their dog; he collapsed while trying to free his Ford Explorer from a deep snowdrift, where it had become stuck, police said.

D'Angelo had left home around 3:15 p.m. and driven to Sammys Beach, where he planned to duck hunt solo, before his vehicle got stuck in the snow, police said.

East Hampton Village Ambulance responded with East Hampton Town police to the scene; D'Angelo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office and East Hampton Town Police detectives are continuing the investigation, police said.
