🌱 East Hampton Daily: 'Go-To Dinners' Recipe + Dan's Papers hoaxes

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in East Hampton.

(East Hampton Daily)

Good morning, people of East Hampton! It's me, Diane Witek, your host of the East Hampton Daily.

First, today's weather:

Sunshine and patchy clouds. High: 51, low: 40.

Here are the top stories today in East Hampton:

  1. Ina Garten's parmesan roasted asparagus is worthy of any Easter plate. Garten said the method of roasting vegetables truly bring out the flavor in them. Fans of the Barefoot Contessa can explore more of Garten's recipes in her upcoming cookbook titled 'Go-To Dinners'. (Us Weekly)
  2. Early Sunday morning, a harbor seal made its way around Southampton where it was apprehended by town police. Patrol officers captured the seal after it fled southwest toward the Budget Host Hotel. The seal is now in the custody of the Riverhead Foundation. Check out some pictures of the seal's Southampton adventure. (Patch)
  3. Dan Rattiner, the founder of Dan's Papers is quite the jokester. Some of his tall stories, that were satirical in nature, were picked up by national publications like the Wall Street Journal and Sports Illustrated. Stories about lions released to cull the Hamptons' deer population to Hampton Police Submarine Unit. Enjoy reading more of Dan's Papers hoaxes that lots of people believed. (Dan's Papers)
  4. Ever wonder if those lottery machines in supermarkets were worth trying? Well, some lucky person thought so, a third-prize winning ticket worth $50,000 in the April 2, Powerball drawing was purchased at the Riverhead ShopRite supermarket. An estimated figure of $231 million is the jackpot for the April 4, drawing. (RiverheadLOCAL)
