Partly sunny. High: 48, low: 38.

Here are the top stories in East Hampton today:

  1. East Hampton Area Pets Who Need A Home: Abner And More. Want to add a furry friend to your family and have a positive impact on the East Hampton community at the same time? Consider adopting a dog, cat or other kind of pet from a local shelter or organization. Consider checking out a local adoption agency like Last Chance Animal Rescue, where Louie the dog is waiting patiently. (East Hampton Patch)
  2. Two Long Island Homes Nominated For State, National Historic Registers. The NYS Board for Historic Preservation has recommended two Long Island homes — the Elaine de Kooning House and Studio, located at 55 Alewive Brook Road in East Hampton and the John Jackson II House, located at 1419 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh — be added to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Being listed on the state and national registers can help owners revitalize properties, as designated properties are eligible for various public preservation programs and services, such as matching state grants and state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credits. Two students in the Greenport Union Free School District have tested positive for COVID-19, Superintendent Marlon Small wrote in an email to parents Monday. As a result of the positive test, the students will be required to quarantine as stipulated by the Suffolk County Department of Health guidelines, he said. Both cases have been reported to the Suffolk County Department of Health; the district has also completed the contract tracing process and have also reported that information to the SCDOH, Small said.
