East Hampton Man Charged With Sexually Abusing Child, 13: Police

The abuse took place on multiple occasions in 2022, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested after an investigation regarding the sexual abuse of a child, 13, police said.

According to East Hampton town police, the abuse was disclosed by the child to a Child Protective Services employee; it was determined that the abuse occurred on multiple occasions in November, 2022.

Carlos Fidel Gutama, 52, was arrested by the East Hampton Town Police Department's detective division and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class A misdemeanor, and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.

Gutama is being held at East Hampton Town Police Department headquarters and is scheduled to be arraigned at East Hampton Town Justice Court on Thursday, police said.

Gutama works as a carpenter at a business located in Sag Harbor, police said.
