East Hampton Teen Violates Order of Protection, Punches Door: Police

The teen is facing two felony charges, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton teen is facing two felony charges after he punched a bathroom door frame, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the young man, 19, was arrested on Oct. 22 at 9 a.m. and charged with first degree criminal contempt, violating an order of protection, damaging property greater than $250, a felony, and third degree criminal mischief, damaging another person's property in an amount greater than $250, a felony.

The active order of protection has been in place since June and runs through June, 2017, police said. The teen "wrongfully and intentionally" disobeyed and violated that order of protection by "intentionally punching and damaging a wood panel on the first floor bathroom door," police said; damage was estimated at $300, authorities added.

He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
