East Hampton Village Plans First Street Fair In 300 Years

EAST HAMPTON, NY — For the first time in more than 300 years, the Village of East Hampton is planning a street fair.

Hosted by the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce, the "First Annual Spring Celebration Street Fair" is set to unfold on Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village on Saturday, May 20 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Steve Ringel, executive director of the Chamber, met with village officials and got the green light for the fair, which will include more than 80 booths on Newtown Lane, where local artists, shopkeepers and more than 30 non-profits — including the Pollock-Krasner House, the East End Children’s Museum, the East Hampton YMCA, East Hampton Historical Society and East Hampton Trails Preservation Society – will display their wares and information.

In addition, a Main Street Stage will feature live music all day, including bluegrass, folk, and rock and roll.

Hampton Free Ride will be providing shuttle service from the John Marshall Elementary School parking lot and Amber Waves Farms will set up a farming exhibit for kids and adults. Kids' activities will include a Kid Zone, featuring a climbing wall, jumping castle, face painters, arts and crafts and more.

“It’s a true community event to celebrate spring, as well as to showcase our wonderful businesses and organizations," Ringel said.

Village eateries will be open all day and offering specials.
