Everyday Hero: Owner of Local Historic General Store Kristi Hood

• Kristi Hood, business owner of the historic General Store in Springs, East Hampton.

• “Kristi has been able to retain the store’s historic setting under high pressure to have the building knocked down, sold or renovated into some kind of “modern” deli of sorts. She is one of the hardest working women in Springs, works with the school supplying lunches, hosts free Sunday music on porch and, most importantly, perpetuates the feeling of the local “Bonac” community-- a people whose ancestors reach back to the 1600s.”

• “All communities should have a center. A place where people meet in harmony and promote feelings of togetherness and good will. Kristi provides this “place”, this friendly space where young and old feel safe and right at home. That’s hero stuff.”
