Fight Over Extra Cream Cheese Turns Ugly, Woman Steals Money From Tip Jar: Cops

MONTAUK, NY — The struggle over a schmear is real.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the craving for a flagel with extra cream cheese escalated recently: An employee working at Goldberg's Bagels in Montauk last month said a young woman and two males walked into the establishment and ordered a flagel — a flattened bagel — with extra cream cheese.

The employee made the flagel and charged a $1 for the extra cream cheese; the woman began yelling and cursing when she learned she was being charged extra, police said.

She continued to yell and reached over the counter at the employee, police said.

The woman then reached inside the tip jar, stole about $15 in tips, and left the building, police said.

The employee said she wants to press charges and does not want the woman to return to the bagel store, police said.
