Filmmaker Killed in Car Crash to be Honored at Hamptons International Film Festival
The festival will take place during the Columbus Day weekend.

The New York City filmmaker who died in a single car crash in East Hampton last week, will be honored at the Hamptons International Film Festival next month.
Nicholas Louvel, 34, who also has a home in Wainscott, crashed into several trees on Route 114 on Thursday and was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital.
He was scheduled to present his award-winning film, βThe Uncondemned,β at the festival on Friday, Oct. 9.

He had traveled to Long Island on Wednesday afternoon in order to deliver the film to the festival in person.
βHe wanted to hand over the film personally, so that he could enjoy the satisfaction of his and Michele [Mitchell]βs amazing accomplishment,β Film at Eleven, the company behind Louvelβs film, wrote on their website.

Film at Eleven will receive the award for the category: The 2015 Brizzolara Family Foundation Award for a Film on Conflict and Resolution, according to the companyβs website.
The film βtells the gripping and world-changing story of a group of young international lawyers and activists who fought to make rape a crime of war, and the Rwandan women who came forward to testify, to win justice, where there had been none,β according to the HIFF website.
Louvel worked on the film with Mitchell. The two also previously worked on the film βHaiti: Where Did the Money Go?β which won the national 2013 Edward R. Murrow Award for Best TV Documentary.
Louvelβs directorial debut was the 2005 feature film βDomino One,β which he made while attending Harvard. He also wrote and starred in the film, whose cast list included Natalie Portman, who also attended Harvard.
