LONG ISLAND, NY — After months of cold, snow and frigid temperatures, Mother Nature is set to bestow a taste of summer across Long Island in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service.

Some parts of Long Island could see "record highs" near 90 degrees as it gets closer to Friday, said Dominic Ramunni, meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Upton. Areas closer to the coast could see temperatures in the mid-80s, he said, adding: "It will still be some of the hottest weather we've seen."
