LI Motorcyclist, 'Friend To All', Hit By 18-Wheeler — Needs Help
Joe O'Haire is loved by many in Montauk and is the first to reach out to those in need, friends say. Now, he needs a helping hand.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Montauk man is desperately in need of help after he was hit by an 18-wheeler in Texas while riding his motorcycle.
According to a GoFundMe created by Denis Carr, Joe O'Haire Physical Recovery Fund, on October 17, O'Haire was severely injured in a crash; he was hit by an 18-wheeler when he was riding his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 59 in Lufkin, Texas.
Four days later he was still in the ICU of Kingwood Hospital suffering from a broken hip, shoulder and pelvis, multiple fractures in his left arm and ribs, and a collapsed lung, he said.

"Joe is a well-respected resident of Montauk, NY and Livingston, TX. who would do anything to help anybody he met in his travels. He is a funny, witty, compassionate and supportive friend to all," Carr said.
In addition, he said, O'Haire is an established photographer, musician and songwriter who explores the country in his small RV documenting his travels with his photographs. He is represented by ReservoirsArt.com and his work can be viewed here.

"Joe needs your help for his long road to recovery. He has always been the first person to reach out and help others. Now is the time for us to reach out and help Joe," Carr said. "Please give what you can. Every little bit will help."
