LI School Bus Driver Makes Unauthorized Stop, With Kids Unattended: PD

He's facing multiple child endangerment charges, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton school bus driver was arrested this week after he made an unauthorized stop and left the students on the bus alone, police said.

According to East Hampton Village police, the incident took place on November 1. An on-duty East Hampton school district bus driver made the unauthorized stop during his pickup route and left the students on the bus unattended, police said.

The school district contacted the police department after being made aware of what had happened, police said. The driver, Angel Roberto Farez, 51, of East Hampton was questioned and subsequently arrested and charged with multiple counts of child endangerment, police said.

He has since been released on his own recognizance, police said.

The investigation is currently ongoing; East Hampton Village police are working with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office and the East Hampton School District in regard to the matter, police said.
