Man Arrested After Sexually Abusing Child For Years: Police

The abuse continued for three years, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sexual abuse of a child, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, the abuse was disclosed by the child to a Child Protective Services employee. Subsequent to a detective's interview, it was determined that the abuse occurred on multiple occasions between 2022 and 2025, police said.

Jaime Benigno Fajardo Fajardo, 36, of Hampton Bays was arrested by the East Hampton Town Police Department's detective division and charged with second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a Class D felony; first-degree sexual abuse, a Class D felony; second-degree sexual abuse, a Class A misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, police said.

Fajardo Fajardo is being held at East Hampton Town Police Department Headquarters and is scheduled to be arraigned at East Hampton Town Justice Court on Saturday, police said.
