Man Busted for DWI on West Lake Drive: Police

The man was caught driving over the speed limit and failing to signal, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - An East Hampton man was cuffed after he was caught driving drunk on West Lake Drive, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, Raymond W. Bimson, 34, was arrested on Monday at 4:48 a.m. after he was seen heading north on West Lake Drive, police said.

Bimson was traveling 43 miles per house in a 30 mile per hour zone and also failed to use his directional as he made a lefthand turn onto Flamingo Avenue, police said.

Upon investigation, he had a "strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath," as well as slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and he was unsteady on his feet, police said. Bimson consented to and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Bimson was charged with driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.
