Man Caught With 23 Small Bags Of Cocaine, Scale, In BMW: Cops

He was also found to have a bag of marijuana in between the seats of the police car, authorities said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Florida man was caught in East Hampton with 23 small Ziplock bags of cocaine and a scale in the glove compartment of his BMW, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Aaron K. Petty, 27, of North Miami, FL, was arrested on Saturday on Floyd St. near Spinner Ln. and charged with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, narcotic drug, intent to sell, a felony; he was found with 23 small plastic Ziploc bags, all of which contained a white, powdery substance that later field-tested positive for cocaine, in the glove box of his blue 2007 BMW, police said. In addition, he had a black electronic scale in the glove box, police said.

The cocaine had an aggregate weight of one-eighth of an ounce; he was also charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a narcotic drug, a felony, and second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, scales, a misdemeanor, police said.

In addition, Petty was found to have a partial white pill — Alprazolam (Xanax) — located in the center console of his vehicle; he was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a criminal substance, a misdemeanor.

Petty also was found with a green, leafy substance in a plastic bag, that was found in between the seats of a marked police vehicle, authorities said. The substance field tested positive for the presence of marijuana; he was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, police said.

Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond, police said.
