Man Charged After East Hampton Altercation Led To Death: PD

An Amagansett man died after the altercation; an East Hampton man now faces a first-degree manslaughter charge, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY β€” An East Hampton man has been charged with the death of an Amagansett man following an altercation on Saturday, police said.

Suffolk County Police and East Hampton Town Police arrested Marc Dern, 34, and charged him with first-degree manslaughter after the death of Kevin Somers, 45, following an altercation at Dern's Lincoln Avenue home on February 5, authorities said.

Dern was held overnight at East Hampton Town Police headquarters, and is scheduled to be arraigned at East Hampton Town Justice Court on Friday, police said.

On Saturday, East Hampton Town police responded to the Lincoln Avenue home following a 911 call at 10:40 p.m. regarding an altercation between the two men, police said.

Somers, of Amagansett, was transported to Southampton Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. Dern was not injured, police said.
