Man Charged With DWI After Veering Off Road, Striking Fence: PD
The incident took place in Amagansett, police say.
AMAGANSETT, NY β An East Hampton man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after veering off the road and into a fence in Amagansett earlier this month, police said.
According to East Hampton Town Police, on Feb. 12 at 4:05 a.m., Peter H. Vaziri, 26, was driving a black 2018 Mazda west on Montauk Highway near Bunker Hill Road when he crossed over the marked shoulder and off the roadway, striking a fence.
While interviewing Vaziri, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, his speech was slurred, and he was unsteady on his feet, police said. He also performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

He was arrested, charged with misdemeanor DWI, and released on his own recognizance, police siad.
