Man Charged With Felony Criminal Mischief In East Hampton: PD

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Southampton man was arrested Thursday after damaging property in East Hampton months earlier, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, Genaro Sandovalgarcia, 45, who is without a known address, was arrested and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, damaging another person's property in an amount greater than $250, a felony; and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, a misdemeanor.

Police said Sandovalgarcia, on Nov. 23 at about 7:15 a.m. while at a home on Edwards Avenue, damaged a person's property by tearing six screens from the windows, damaging the front screen door, and breaking a bedroom window latch; he also ran into the woods and refused to stop when ordered to do so, police said.

He was remanded to the Suffolk County correctional facility, police said.
