Man Charged With Felony DWI In Amagansett: Police

AMAGANSETT, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested Friday and charged with driving while intoxicated in Amagansett, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Jacob Beyer, 31, was arrested at 2 a.m. on Abrahams Path. Beyer, police said, was driving a black 2022 Chevrolet and was seen failing to maintain his designated lane and crossing over the double yellow lines.

Upon investigation, Beyer was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet, police said. He performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests, police said.

Beyer was arrested and charged with felony DWI, prior conviction within 10 years, and released on his own recognizance, police said.
