Man Charged With Felony DWI In Hamptons Was Speeding 77 MPH: Police
He was speeding 77 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone and also had 2 DWI convictions in the past 10 years, police say.
EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Riverhead man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was found speeding 77 miles an hour in a 30 mile per hour zone in East Hampton, police said.
According to East Hampton town police, Luis A. Loja Quizhpe, 32, was arrested on May 7 at 7:44 p.m. on Stephen Hands Path in East Hampton and charged with felony DWI due to two prior convictions within 10 years.
Quizhpe was driving a 2023 Toyota south on Stephen Hands Path near Buckskill Road, police said. Upon investigation, he was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was lacking proper coordination, police said.

He performed poorly on a standardized field sobriety test, and then refused to continue with other tests, police said.
He was released on his own recognizance, police said.
