Man Facing Felony DWI Charge In East Hampton: Police

The man, driving with a revoked license, was caught failing to maintain his lane, with insufficient license plate lamps, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A man whose license had already been revoked was caught driving drunk in Amagansett, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Edras Mendezventura, 23, was arrested on Jan. 31 at 10:22 p.m. after he was found failing to maintain his lane of travel, with insufficient license plate lamps, and driving with a suspended license.

He was driving a black 2003 Nissan Altima on Windmill Lane near Schellinger Road and was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and bloodshot, glassy eyes; he was also unsteady on his feet and performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests given, police said.

He was charged with first degree aggravated unlicensed operation, commit agg unlicensed operation 2/alcohol or drug, a felony, operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1 percent alcohol or more in blood, first offense, a misdemeanor, and driving while intoxicated, first offense, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was remanded into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, police said.
