Man Hid Cocaine, Meth In His Cigarette Box: Cops

The Alabama man was nabbed in Montauk and faces a felony charge, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An Alabama man was busted after he was caught with cocaine in his cigarette box in Montauk, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Hector Jaime Ventura-Figueroa, 30, of Gasden, AL, was arrested on April 25 at 3:25 a.m. on Montauk Highway in Montauk after he was found with three small plastic bags, which contained a white powdery substance that later field tested positive for cocaine, police said.

He was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance: cocaine, 500 milligrams, a felony. The cocaine was located in a Marlboro cigarette box in his 2011 Nissan Juke, police said.

He was also charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, after he was found with four small blue plastic bags containing a brown crystal like substance that later field tested positive for methylenedioxymethamphetamine, also located in a Marlboro cigarette box in his vehicle, police said.

He was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, police said.
