Man Hospitalized After Almost Drowning at Egypt Beach

The man was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

A man was hospitalized after almost drowning at Egypt Beach in East Hampton Village on Wednesday afternoon, according to East Hampton Village Police.

Police received a 911 call at 2:30 p.m. requesting an ambulance for a male swimmer who became ill after struggling with the current while trying to exit the water, police said.

Village Police and ambulance responded. Police were able to remove the man from the beach with a 4-wheel drive police vehicle.

The man was transported to East Hampton Airport and airlifted by Suffolk Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, according to police.

His current condition is unknown.Β
