Man Threatens Victim With Sledgehammer: Police

He knocked his victim to the ground and then held the sledgehammer in the air, as if to strike, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man was arrested after he threatened his victim with a sledgehammer, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Surith Z. Chavez, 25, was arrested on Nov. 25 at 10:10 p.m. on Copeces Lane and charged with second degree menacing with a weapon, a misdemeanor.

He knocked the victim onto the ground then picked up a sledgehammer and held it in the air as if he was going to strike, police said.

He was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff, police said.
