Mom With Son, 10, Battling Health Crisis, Can't Work: 'We Are Out of Money'
Four months late on her mortgage, one struggling mom pleads for help.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — East Hampton mom Kimberly Ann Norgard is in a race against time to raise funding necessary to escape homelessness.
Norgard recently launched a Facebook page, "Mother Needs Medical Treatment," which has raised $4,338 of its $50,000 goal since October.
On the page, she wrote, "My name is Kimberly and I have many health issues stemming from systemic lupus, or SLE, and a myriad of other autoimmune diseases. I am bedridden and have a 10-year old son. I am drowning in medical bills despite having medical insurance, private, and Medicare. I desperately need financial help in order to keep my son and my home."

Dependent upon the assistance of nurses and aids in her home on a daily basis, Norgard said the number of allowable visits is predetermined by her health insurance.
"I cannot afford to pay for help," she said. "I fear, should my health continue to deteriorate and my medical expenses grow, that me and my son will be homeless."

Despite the difficulty of reaching out, she said, "I'm not sure what else to do except swallow my pride and do whatever I can to raise money so I can afford the necessary medical treatment I need so I can take care of my wonderful son."
Norgard, on oxygen 24/7, said it further inhibits her ability to be mobile.
"I'm not able to prepare meals and have relied on the help of friends to this point. We are out of money and currently four months late on our mortgage and many other bills that are mounting. I don't know where else to turn," she wrote.
