Montauk Dune Project to be Completed Later Than Originally Planned
The original deadline of Jan. 31 will most likely need to be pushed back.

The controversial Downtown Montauk Stabilization Project, which has caused several protests, will most likely take longer to complete than the original end date of Jan. 31, according to a report in 27east.
According to the report, H&L Contracting employees recently told town officials that the deadline is no longer βrealisticβ due to delays caused by βpermitting hurdles with the state Department of Environmental Conservation and, to a certain extent, because of protests on the beach during the first two weeks of construction.β
The project, which has already been pushed back due to a three-day norβeaster and after opponents went to court to delay the project, might now be completed some time in March, depending on logistical considerations and the weather this winter, according to 27east.
