Montauk Eatery Evacuated After Man Pulls Fire Alarm: Cops

The culprit is facing a felony charge, police say.

MONTAUK, NY — A Montauk eatery was evacuated recently when a man pulled the fire alarm, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Joshua Owen Lopez, 35, was arrested on July 23 at 12:43 a.m. and charged with second degree falsely reporting a fire explosion or hazardous substance, a felony.

Lopez was at the Grey Lady on W. Lake Drive in Montauk when, during business hours, he activated the fire alarm by pulling the alarm box handle in the restaurant, activating the alarm and causing the restaurant to be evacuated, police said.

Cash bail was set at $500, police said.
