Montauk's Ben Dollinger Bags Hole-in-One On A Par 4

Playing after work Ben Dollinger of Montauk hits a 250 yard hole-in-one on the 8th hole at East Hampton course for a 3 under par "albatross"

The hole-in-one on a par 4 hole is one of the rarest feats in golf. It is called an Albatross, a three under par. Ben Dollinger of Montauk, a graduate of East Hampton High School, as well as Green Mountain College in Vermont; he just turned 40 last Dec. 15 and now has accomplished an albatross. He did so on Monday, playing with friends Peter Cooper and Greg Schaffer on the local course after work.

Ben, a managing director at Amaden Gay Agency in East Hampton, was managing and directing his hybrid — a club like a three iron, in between a wood and a driver — to launch a 270' tee shot that ended up in the cup.

Ben explains: "I was playing with Peter Cooper from my office and Paul Schaffer of the East Hampton Fire Department. We were playing a quick nine after work. It was on the 8th hole of the nine hole course, a short par 4 of about 250 yards. I hit a perfect hybrid, but we couldn't see the ball land, yet it was going straight at the pin. When I got up to the green I saw my divot mark, but no ball. I thought to myself, 'It's either in the hole or across the road.' I looked in the hole and the ball was there! I think it landed soft, took one hop, hit the pin and dropped in."

Ben then took the photo of the ball in the hole; the photo above. It was a good week for Ben Dollinger as he also won a member guest while also bagging the longest drive at at 320 yards.
