Motorcyclist Charged With DWI In Amagansett Crash Injuring Woman: Cops

She was airlifted for treatment and is listed in critical condition, police say.

AMAGANSETT, NY — A motorcyclist was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a woman, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle during a crash in Amagansett Friday night, was left critically injured, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the crash took place at 10:49 p.m. on Bluff Road. The motorcyclist, Robert Chase Plachy, 31, of Amagansett, lost control of the bike, causing the woman, 35, of California, to be thrown. She was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious injuries; she was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition, police said.

Plachy, who suffered minor injuries, was arraigned before Judge Steven Tekulsky in East Hampton justice court and was released on his own recognizance, police said.
