Non-Profit Signs Lease With Peconic Land Trust to Operate Farmers Market

The market will be operated as a food destination, community hub and gathering place.

The Amagansett Food Institute (AFI), a local non-profit, recently announced it signed a lease with the Peconic Land Trust to operate the Amagansett Farmers Market.

The market, located at 367 Main Street in Amagansett, is scheduled to open on August 1.

AFI said they will be operating the Market as a retail food destination, community hub and gathering place, presenting local produce and other products made by East End and New York State food producers.

β€œIn keeping with AFI’s and the Trust’s shared goals to support, promote, and advocate for the farmers, vintners, fishers and other food producers and providers on the East End of Long Island, AFI’s offerings in the food market will feature predominantly local produce and locally prepared foods, including many of those from AFI member farms and our commercial incubator kitchen known as South Fork Kitchens,” the institute wrote in a press release.

The Institute will be offering educational programming, a series of events, and educational materials integrated throughout the market.

There will also be an educational center at the market that will also operate as an information resource center where visitors can learn more about East End agricultural practices and operations.

β€œWe are thrilled to be able to showcase the best of East End produce and food products and look forward to working with the community to bring more awareness of local food and food related issues,” Kathleen Masters, the Executive Director of AFI said.
