Nora Ephron Dies at 71

Nora Ephron, the screenwriter and filmmaker behind hits like "Sleepless in Seattle" and "When Harry Met Sally," died in Manhattan on Tuesday night, according to The New York Times. 

Ephron, who was 71, was also an East Hampton Village homeowner, LongIsland Blockshopper confirmed. She reportedly had acute myeloid leukemia and died of pneumonia. 

"She was a journalist, a blogger, an essayist, a novelist, a playwright, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter and a movie director — a rarity in a film industry whose directorial ranks were and continue to be dominated by men," The Times said.
