Opinion: Can/Will "The Voice" Winner Chloe Kohanski Make It Big?

With a distinctive talent and an unusually unique sounding voice can Chloe Kohanski stay in the now and master a very tough music market.

Chloe Kohanski won Season 13 of NBC's award winning show "The Voice," by being a new sound to some very classic songs. Her artistry and presentation added a much needed energy to a show that over time has become tired and predictable. Yet I love music and love watching every episode of The Voice. That is why I choose to write this piece. I wanted to somehow reach out and give my opinion, an amateur opinion at best, even though I have written thousands of articles on the east end.

Ms. Kohanski just turned 24 on December 29, 2017 and hails from Juliet , Tennessee. By winning season 13 of The Voice she has a new recording contract with "Republic Records." Through twitter she has recently told her fans that she is now "ready to get back in the studio" and "making plans to release new music with Republic..." However will that alone be enough?

When I asked her directly via twitter to come to NYC and "sing in the subways for publicity" I acknowledged she had "the talent but needed to be/do more," because when The Voice starts season 14 in a few weeks they will be looking "to create a new/you..." that being the season 14 "The Voice Winner."

I have never met or spoken to Chloe Kohanski although I requested an interview, however she did respond to my tweet directly and I thank her. Since it was a public tweet I will share it word for word. She tweeted, "There will never be another person like me.That's the beauty of The Voice! Everyone is unique and special and it's an amazing platform for artist to gain fans and get incredible exposure. Thanks for being a fan."

Yes I am a fan and that is why I am asking Ms. Kohanski to sing publicly now in huge media centers immediately before season 14 of The Voice even starts! Why? because she is a unique talent. Not every music lover watches The Voice or ever has. There is no long line of successful The Voice winners selling music. I feel Ms. Kohanski's live performances where actually stronger than her recorded iTunes releases because she has the "it" factor. People need "to see" her sing live before they buy the music. Music is a tough sell these days.

People who record music and write their own music are artist I respect and have for over 50 years. I have written songs myself but I have no real talent, that is why when I watch a unique real pure talent trust record folks to manage their talent I get concerned. Rarely does that scenario end well. I believe Ms Kohanski needs to hit the road and entertain America a few hundred people at a time and win over more folks as she she did the loyal 'The Voice' audience folks, folks like me. After she makes that special live relationship with the public will real long term success come. That's my opinion and it is well intended.
