Opinion: Expert Weighs In On Off Shore Wind Project with a Report

A physicist weighs in on off shore wind projects, specifically in answer to the situation on the east end.

The offshore wind farm issue is important. If you care about please read and learn. Click on to this link http://wiseenergy.org/Energy/O... The author is John Droz; Masters Degree,Solid State Science, Syracuse University(1975)

B.S., Physics, Boston College (1968) B.S., Mathematics, Boston College (1968)

I feel information is a good thing. I was surprised by this email.

"To TJ Clemente: I read your story about offshore wind — which is a subject I’m an expert in. For example, here is a recent report I wrote: Offshore Energy Position Paper which has quite a bit in it about offshore wind. The bottom line is that your friend Anthony(Sosinski) is quite right to be concerned. Let’s get introduced a bit, as we may have some overlapping interests... I’m an independent scientist who is very involved with the three E’s: Energy, Environment and Education. I’m also an ardent defender of our military. I've put together an informal all-volunteer coalition of some 10,000 individuals, and about 700 of them are PhDs or experts. A key element of our efforts is to get the public up-to-speed on energy matters, and our website (WiseEnergy.org) is an unparalleled educational resource. If you study the Key Documents page, that will tell you all you need to know about wind energy. I augment the website information I send out an Energy and Environmental Newsletter every three weeks to keep people appraised of the latest developments. Here is the current issue. Basically our position is that: 1) Science exists to give us answers to our technical problems. 2) As such, our energy policies should be based on real Science. But that is not the case. The facts are that: a) our energy policies are written by special-interest lobbyists, and b) any real Science in our energy policies is accidental and self-serving. That’s the energy and environmental problem — and solution — in a nutshell. If you have any questions about any of this, let me know. regards,\John Droz, Jr. physicist Brantingham Lake, NY/ Morehead City, NCJ"

My view after reading Droz's link I can say that it has to be the most comprehensive energy report that I have read since when I worked as a congressional intern during the first energy crisis in 1973. Unfortunately the present administration's caring about ecology and environmental impacts in my opinion is not high on their agenda. However I am in awe of the depth of the knowledge on the subject in this report. I agree with the conclusions and believe they are spot on. Most people who care about our oceans will too. However there are those who are out to make billions in the short term and don’t care about the long-term effects. Here is the link to the report. http://wiseenergy.org/Energy/O..."
