Parents Claim East Hampton YMCA Pool Causing Illness in Children: Report

The pool is used by both the East Hampton High School and Hurricanes swim teams.

Some local parents have recently claimed that problems with the air and water quality at the East Hampton YMCA swimming pool, which is used by both the High School and Hurricanes swim teams, has caused cases of chronic respiratory pain and illnesses in the children, according to a report in 27east.

The East Hampton Town Board has said that they will be updating the water treatment and ventilation system in the building, which is owned by the Town, 27east reports.

According to one parent, a total of nine kids recently got pneumonia and that several other kids have had chronic coughs and lung pain, according to the report.
