Blue Point Brewery's Summer Ale Flying Off the Shelves at Peconic Beverage
Manager Gary Moller tells Patch what cold ones are hot for for the Fourth of July.

With things already heating up for the Fourth of July holiday, Peconic Beverage East Manager Gary Moller took a few minutes to from his busiest week of the year to discuss the best sellers and his recommendations for your holiday beer needs.
“I’ve got people lined up at 9 a.m. as I’m opening the door,” Moller said.
The top five sellers aren’t too surprising, with Corona, Heineken, Budweiser, Bud Light, and Coors Light all doing a good business, but some smaller breweries are becoming “hot right now" Moller said.

Peroni, the Italian beer, is making a market push at the moment, as is the Brooklyn Summer Ale— now available in a can 12 pack. Similarly, Blue Point Brewery’s Summer Ale is flying off the shelves— so much so that Moller is currently working with distributors to locate more of it. Similarly, the Dogfishhead line of beers has proven to be very popular, as has the Six Point Breweries line of canned four-packs like Bengali Tiger.
In terms of his personal preferences, Moller recommends the products of Great Divide Brewery out of Denver, Colorado— available for the first time on the East Coast. The line, which comes in Colette Farmhouse Ale, and Titan India Pale Ale (IPA) and Hoss Rye Lager, is not only very good, he said, but doing very well. Moller also recommends California Based Firestone Walker Brewery’s Union Jack IPA for fans of a hoppier brew.

Currently, the Lagunitas Brewery has expanded into 12 packs of their bottled IPA, which will cost you $17.99 plus tax. When you consider the current price of a six pack of the same product is $12.99, as Moller put it: “It’s a steal.”
“So far sales have been very brisk,” he said. “We’re anticipating another good holiday. Both the regular and the seasonal customers are back in full force.”
