Pedestrian Struck By Car, Injured In East Hampton: Cops

The woman said she had the right of way when she was struck, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A pedestrian from Saratoga Springs was struck by a woman driving a Jeep in East Hampton, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the woman was crossing Pantigo Road, or NYS Route 27, at Egypt Lane on Saturday at 8:58 a.m.; she said the crosswalk signal showed the "walk sign" and she was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a 2007 Jeep Suburban driven by an East Hampton resident.

The driver said she was making the turn with the green light and did not see the pedestrian in the crosswalk, police said.

The injured woman reported pain in her left hip, left chest, and right arm, as well as bleeding from her right arm, police said.

The driver was charged with failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian in the crosswalk, a violation, police said.
