EAST HAMPTON, NY — Children brought baskets — as well as pails, handbags, and shopping bags — to compete in the race to gather as many brightly colored eggs as possible during the East Hampton Ladies Village Improvement Society's Annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday.

LVIS's Susanna Richmond, Joan Denny, Vickie Lundin, Mary Lyons, Joan Tulp and Anne Thomas had to remind the eager, happy children to "wait on the slate [path]" until the church bell rang, marking the official start of the race.
