The opening reception for “Bernie Taupin, Blue Print: A Retrospective” at Mark Borghi Fine Art on Main Street in Bridgehampton took place last Friday.

The show is Taupin’s first one-man show in New York and will be available at the gallery until July 26.

The show features 16 contemporary and abstract works that reflect Taupin’s journey with influences from art history of the 1950’s and 1960’s.

“I find blocks and oblongs of bright color effective, for me they express affection,” Taupin said, who is best known as the lyricist for most of Elton John’s songs as well as many other A-list singers. “In the same way their dark counterparts with their fragmented edges and torn middles spell disturbance and pain.”

At the opening reception, the Gallery was packed, wall-to-wall, with guests including Billy Squier with his wife Nicole Schoen and legendary music promoter Ron Delsener.
