Police: Couple Arrested After Refusing to Pay Taxi Fare, Attempting to Hide in Room
The couple took a taxi to the Hunting Inn, where they claimed they needed to get the money from the room but never returned, police said.

East Hampton Village Police arrested two people on Saturday for theft of services after they refused to pay a taxi fare, police said.
At about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, a Staten Island woman and a Newberg, N.Y. man hired a Roadrunner taxi to transport them from Shagwong restaurant on Montaunk Main Street to the Hunting Inn at 94 Main Street, police said.
The fare was agreed to be $60, which the couple refused to pay once at the Hunting Inn, police said. They stated that they were staying at the Inn and that they needed to go to their room to get the money for the fare but they never came back, police said.

The couple was found hiding in the kitchen of the room and were arrested for theft of services, according to police.
They were taken to headquarters for processing and held for arraignment.
