Police ID Woman Pulled From Ocean In Hamptons

WAINSCOTT, NY — The woman whose body was pulled from the ocean surf in Wainscott Saturday has been identified as Elizabeth A. Hummer, 58, police said.

Hummer, of Wainscott, was pulled unresponsive from the water near Beach Lane at 2:36 p.m. by another beachgoer; police and EMS were called to the oceanfront but all efforts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The cause of death has not yet been determined and is pending the report of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said. Investigators have preliminarily ruled out the presence of suspicious circumstances, police said.
