Puppy Hit By Car, Driver Flees Scene; Friends Help with GoFundMe
Sweet Brie was hit on Sandra Road in East Hampton Sunday night.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - In the face of cruelty, East Hampton friends and neighbors are stepping up to help a puppy who was struck by a car Sunday night and left for dead on the road.
A GoFundMe page, "Save Brie", was created; the page raised $115 of its $7,400 goal in under a half hour.
"Our dear friends' sweet puppy Brie was hit by an SUV, that drove off without stopping, on Sunday night," Anita Boyer, who created the page Monday, wrote.

"Already the emergency vet bills are over $7,000 and I wanted to set this up so friends and animal lovers could contribute what they can to help save Brie. Her femur was shattered and she's in surgery this week. Prayers, love and if you have a few dollars to spare I'm sure would be greatly appreciated," she said.
According to Allison Duchemin, Brie's owner, the pup was being walked, on her leash, with Walter McDougall and Bella, their other puppy, Sunday night on Sandra Road in East Hampton.

"A car came around the corner really quick and it spooked her — she ripped the leash right out of his hands and she got hit."
No surgery will be performed until funds are raised, Douchemin said.
