The Retreat Appoints New Executive Director
The new director officially assumed her role in January.

The Retreat, an East End domestic violence services agency, recently announced that Loretta K. Davis was appointed as the new Executive Director.
Davis officially assumed this role on Jan. 28.
“Following an extensive search, The Retreat’s Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Loretta Davis as our new Executive Director,” said Gail Rothwell, the Retreat’s Board President. “We are excited to welcome Loretta to continue moving the agency in a forward direction. Her leadership will strengthen our services, which reach thousands of Suffolk County visitors and residents each year.”

Prior to joining The Retreat, Davis was the Town Justice in Tuxedo, New York for almost 20 years where she presided over civil and criminal matters.
She worked as Moderator for the Roundtable which is the court of last resort for families recovering from Hurricane Sandy.

The Roundtable is administered by the Health & Welfare Council of Long Island, a not-for-profit organization in Melville.
“I am inspired by the Retreat’s mission and honored to have the opportunity to lead the Retreat in engaging our East End communities, our regional and state leadership, our donors, and critical community partners to fully realize our shared vision for a violence-free community,” Davis said.
Davis holds a law degree from New York Law School and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Vermont.
She clerked for a federal district court judge in Manhattan and worked at the law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton.
She has extensive fundraising and managerial experience with the non-profit world through work with Business Council for Peace and Habitat for Humanity as well as other organizations.
