Safe space for East Hampton teens at the East Hampton Library is open 7 days a week
East Hampton Library just opened in November a Young Adult room for high school students, open 7 days a week. It is a safe, inclusive, supervised space with internet access, desktop and laptop computers, a LCD screen and white board for group projects, Young Adult books, lounge area, homework tables, DIY corner, rotating art wall, dedicated librarians, and teen programs after school and on the weekends. The room was designed with the participation of the library's Teen Advisory Board-- a group of high school students who meet monthly at the library--who recognized the need for a space and worked with the library's Board of Trustees and professional design team to help create it ...come check it out!
There is also a Young Teen Room exclusively for middle schoolers, located in the Children's Room.
