Sharing Is Caring for Douglas Elliman's Williston Park Office

Douglas Elliman in Williston Park donates foods and goods to The Inn in Hempstead, New York

A number of agents and staff at Douglas Elliman in Williston Park have done their part to help the needy on Long Island. They held a month-long drive to collect food, clothing, blankets and other needed items to donate to The Inn in Hempstead.

Headed by agents Kim Pitchayan, Ellen Schaefer and Barbara Strugala, the philanthropic efforts included the entire office, and several clients too. A healthy amount of boxes and bags of food, clothing and household goods have been dropped off in December at The Inn, which is the largest homeless shelter on Long Island. Additionally, nearly a dozen Douglas Elliman agents from the Williston Park office, located at 192 Hillside Avenue, have volunteered at the Hempstead-based not-for-profit to stock the shelves in the pantry.

Just because the holidays are upon us, the need for outreach and assistance continues to exist, says Douglas Elliman Williston Park Sales Manager and Associate Broker Lisa Strobing, who adds that there is a constant need for coffee, sugar, canned goods, pasta, and gently used towels, bedding and warm clothing. She encourages her clients, friends and neighbors to donate, especially if they are cleaning house for a sale.

"If you are about to empty out a large house with tremendous amounts of items that could get thrown out, please donate instead," she says. "We encourage you to donate to this worthy cause. It's a wonderful organization."
