Starbucks Chairman Wows Crowd With Story Of Success
Howard Schultz told the compelling story of his humble beginnings in Brooklyn to growing Starbucks into an $84 billion business.
EAST HAMPTON, NY — The Tom Twomey Series of talks is usually held in the Baldwin family lecture room at the East Hampton Library. However, due to the popularity of Starbucks Chairman Emeritus Howard Schultz, Library Director Dennis Fabiszak decided to move the event, called "Building a Better Company", to the larger children's room, which has a capacity of more than 300, to accommodate the crowd that turned out.
As the many gathered listened intently, Schultz told interviewer Andrew Ross Sorkin of The New York Times and CNBC the story of his humble beginnings in Brooklyn public housing to growing Starbucks into an $84 billion business.
