Struck Deer Sent Flying Through Windshield Of Second Car: Cops

The deer came crashing through the windshield of a vehicle in East Hampton, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A deer on the road in East Hampton was struck by one vehicle and then went flying into the air, crashing into a the windshield of second, police said.

According to East Hampton Village Police, the crash took place on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 1:10 p.m. on Montauk Highway.

A Montauk woman was driving a 2011 Lexus west on Montauk Highway when a deer crashed through the driver's side windshield; witnesses and the driver of the first car said the deer had run out into the road in front of a 2000 Mercedes driven by an East Hampton man, who was heading east on Montauk Highway, police said.

The first vehicle struck the deer, propelling it into the air; the deer then went crashing into the windshield of the Lexus, police said.

Both the driver and passenger were unharmed but were transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for observation, police said.

It was not immediately clear if the deer was injured, police said.
