How many marathons/races have you been in? If so, which ones? 9 marathons and many shorter races. Marathons: Baltimore, Philadelphia and Hamptons.

Why are you running in this year’s Suffolk County Marathon? I’m excited to run a race so close to home, and the festival afterwards sounds awesome. I’ve never been part of an inaugural race, so that’s was also very tempting. Several of my friends are also running, and I think it’ll just be a lot of fun. I also appreciate that it supports the local economy, which is very important to me.

Who/what inspired you to run in the marathon? I admire Steve Bellone and his commitment to the community. I’ve seen him running in races and I’m impressed at his level of involvement. He not only encourages a healthy lifestyle through word, but he sets an example by running despite his undoubtedly hectic daily schedule. When I heard that he, along with GLIRC and other locals, were leading the effort to create a new Suffolk marathon, it immediately had my support and I decided I’d be one of the first to register.

How are you preparing for the marathon? I follow one of Hal Higdon’s marathon training plans. I’ve experimented with others over the years, but found that his work best for me.

How long have you been preparing for the marathon? 16-18 weeks total by race day

What are you most looking forward to about the race? It’s a tie between seeing the local communities as I run through and having fun at the food festival afterwards with my family.
