As Trick-Or-Treaters Head Out, Town Urges Halloween Safety
"Let's have a safe Halloween in East Hampton," officials say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — As kids ready to set out trick-or-treating this Halloween, East Hampton Town officials are urging caution.
"Let’s have a safe Halloween holiday in East Hampton!" town officials urged. "Please help us make Halloween a safe holiday in our community."
Members of the public were encouraged to use extra caution on the roadways and to be aware of children trick-or-treating who may be wearing dark costumes or masks that could obstruct their vision while crossing roadways, officials said.

"Please yield to all pedestrians in crosswalks," a release said.
To ensure a safe and secure Halloween for all, the East Hampton Town Police Department is working closely with all the town’s school districts, officials said.

Traditional school Halloween parades will have strong police presence, and town police will be working closely with the East Hampton Village Police Department to ensure that evening trick-or-treating areas are closely monitored, the release said.
"Families and residents can work together, as our East Hampton community so often does, to follow safety protocols and give our younger community members an opportunity to enjoy Halloween safely," officials said.
