VIDEO: Earth Day Cleanup At Suffolk Beach
Group for the East End hosts the event on Saturday morning.

BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — Long Islanders are taking their annual notice of the environment for Earth Day.
One non-profit is doing its part for future generations with a cleanup at a Suffolk County beach.
Marina DeLuca with Group for the East End was a guest on "Patch AM" Friday to discuss their Saturday morning event at Breakwater Beach in Mattituck Park.

"It can help to wear sneakers or closed shoes, so you don't get rocks and sand," DeLuca said. "Bringing your own gloves is also great because you never know what you're going to come across and it's always great to have some added protection to your hands."
She said the group provides pickers, buckets and bags for all of the trash collection.

DeLuca knows their group and the volunteers are making a difference.
"It has a much bigger impact than you might think when you're just walking and picking up an old water bottle on the beach," she said.
Group for the East End is partnering with Atlantic Marine Conservation Society for the cleanup. It is a rain or shine event.
